At some point in the last couple of releases, my items got their stats scrambled a bit. The spell "DIG" in my grimoires got replaced with "VAPOR".
Also, a boomerang I have used on multiple characters for maybe 2-3 years got ESP taken off of it. It has several resists and ESP. *CRY CRY CRY*. I also have a couple other epic boomerangs that got fubared. Their inscriptions show what WAS there...
Each time the randart code gets touched, since randarts are generated from a seeded RNG, properties on them get changed. There's not much that can be done... Usually, the admins will propose to reroll such randarts if you ask them. But the chance to get what you want is really slim, in particular on great randarts.
