It would be awesome if there would be more wonders in the game. What do I mean?

Lets take mushrooms. Right now its kinda garbage items. Only two types has at least some use - mushrooms of unmagic and mushrooms of restoring.. But they are also not popular. So when I see a mushroom I just pass by. Most of the players - pass by. Nobody interestein in mushrooms. Its not right imho.

Lets there would be at least one useful mushroom. Lets it would give +1 stat for example. It could be SUPER rare, but it has to be. Then if player would see mushroom - he would check it, not just go away and stepping on it :P

Another example - tools (I wrote about tools also there http://www.tomenet.eu/phpBB3/viewtopic. ... =949#p2954 ). There are some tools, but all of them is plain and common (exept spades and pickaxes). Flints for example - players just don't looks at such items ever.. May be make VERY rare chance to find tool with some minor.. not like this... minor bonus. Then people would check all tools in hope to find a rare one. It would be more interesting gameplay.

I think there has to be resivion of some item types. Some of them, the most unpopular ones has to have at least 0.001 chance to find a rare and useful version of this item. Then people would not only burn with mana storm and /dis all items on ther ground, but would try to find something :) It would enforce RPG-element of the game.

There still would be junk items, its ok have them around for atmosphere - like shards of pottery, broken sticks & etc. But a little bit of wonder is always nice :)

Even food ration.. Lets there would be 0.1 probability to be blessed (if you found it in dungeon) and give some minor bonus. It wouldn't influence much at the balance of the game, but would be fun.

A lot of what you are suggesting has already been done with the framework for "ego items". Edit e_info.txt.

eg. ego ale...

You can create your own egos, test them on a server and submit them for possible use. Setting up a test server is a royal pain. If the dev team can set up an official test server for us, it would be very very encouraging to people like us.

I'm not interested in working on these things on my own, but will be happy to share the work with anyone who is enthusiastic enough to join forces. Most of it can be done by testing it and getting the data right.

why setting server is pain?
For windows you have my version of server. So it only download, unpack and run. For linux you can compile yourself. (Should i start to provide linux version too?) You can update it by copying lua files from game.

This reduces the problem to entering ideas as data and testing that they actually improve the game rather than ruin it for some people.

This idea might lead to some really fun egos. Like a "mushroom of blindness and strength" or a "mushroom of hallucination and enlightenment". A bit of a dilemma. Like you have a similar dilemma with some of the cursed weapons and rings. Use them or chuck them?

Ok. Everybody post ideas! Here are mine...

All mushrooms including {bad} ones have a rare stat boost ego, every 500 or so

Shard of broken pottery from ancient morder {cursed}.
Uncurse and sell as ego item value.

Shard of broken pottery from ancient Gondolin. Rare.
Nice money

Ornamental fire stone. Rare
Sell for $ or use like ordinary firestoneS.

Poisoned ration of food. (mean huh)

Blessed ration of food (Cures sanity)

Drugged ale (hallucination)

Dwarven ale (heals hp)

Magic flask of oil (never runs dry)

Flask of ritual oil (treasure you can sell or use it up like normal oil)

Weightless spellbooks

Cursed spellbooks. (Can't be sold without removing the curse). Used as normal.

Broken stick of dark ritual {cursed} (just a wierd flavour of broken stick)

Iron spike of silver lining (treasure)
