ID at the floor

Small but.. quite usefull suggestion. Make it possible to ID items with a scroll while item lay on the floor. It would reduce time which you have to spend when IDing item.

Now its:
1) Take item
2) Read ID scroll
3) Target it at the item
4) Drop item on the ground (in 95% cases) cause it rubbish

Even if you have autoID at pich up at ID scrolls (!X inscription):
1) Take an item
2) Drop an item (in 95% cases)

If it would be possible to macro ID item on the ground:
1) Read scroll at the item on the ground. You see what is it. In 5% cases you pick up item. %) Thats is.

So.. Players have to push the same buttons again and again and its quite uncomfortable. Its better to fight, then push extra keys hehe

or any other class with Divination or find some nice piece of eq with id.

I don't wanna play as Ishtar :) Its not a solution of not comfortable ID-mechanic.. Take item and then throw away, again and again. Its just annoying thing without any purpose. Also my eyes tired of looking for the letter of item which I have to throw away (especially its hard when items got REORDERED, and you have to search for item in inventory).

Why do not make it possible to read scroll on an item at the ground? It would give more time for adventures, not to annoying actions.

Some tips for speed looting / reducing fatigue:
1. Have a source of auto/pack ID, eg. (auto)inscribe !X on your stack of 99 Identify Scrolls.
2. Use auto-inscriptions, designated in the & menu, to preserve desired loot with !k
3. Macro the dispose command (/dis a) for clearing your inventory, eg. \e):/dis\sa\r
4. Remember to tag your regular gear (/tag) so that you don't dispose of it, too!

Advanced tips:
5. Since auto-inscriptions are limited, have a macro to tag individual slots, eg. \e){-!k\r
6. To reduce visual search fatigue, supplement !k with !U to color any screened loot grey.
7. Use = 5 "Remove unique monster inscription on pick-up" and/or the "/ut u" command.
8. Classes with access to *Remove Curse* and high speed (like Istar...) make great looters.

Here are my looting macros (my auto-inscriptions are also mostly !Uk):
A. \e){-!Uk\r (Manually tag a single inventory slot, just follow up with the slot letter.)
B. \e):/ut\su\r:/t\s*\s!Uk\r (Removes unique names, then tags the entire inventory.)
C. \e):/ut\su\r:/dis\sa\r (Removes unique names, then disposes of untagged loot.)

Note that with the = 5 option enabled (tip #7), using a macro to remove unique names is precautionary. It used to be that those names would interfere with the /dis command. ^^"

Forgot to mention that auto/pack ID also identify items on the floor. :D
This way you can spot those DOOM ammies and stupidity caps even without *RC*.

Damm.. It looks great but too complex for a newbie or a regular player. Auto-inscriptions.. It sounds like nuclear physics :?

Anyway now I understand why we got such mechanics. To suffer with *cursed* items :mrgreen: If we would be able to ID items on the floor - we would avoid one of aspects of the gameplay. BUT. If "ID on the floor" feature would be enabled - lets would be like that:
1) you "ID on the floor" cursed item
2) if its *cursed* items - it goes to your inventory :idea:
