Dear friends, please support petition to nerf event rewards in 'Soloist' mode:

I'm not quite sure i understand what the problem is here,
You play dungeon keeper to get an item to make the game easier do you not?

So you want to cheeze the game, just not too much?

Or are you worried that others will have an unfair advantage over you if they use it?

If you want a challenge just don't play dungeon keeper.

If you would read this message, you would find an answer to this question: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1092&start=20#p6107

In short: why there is 'Soloist' mode? if it's possible to limit yourself from trade with other players in NE/EL modes? Because it is online competitive game and rules has to be equal to everyone. Thats why I asked about this anti-cheezing mode for 2 years (again, this topic: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1092). And when this anti-cheezing mode finally arrived - it's got blunder in it which ruins it's concept.

You could limit yourself to anything, but in this case you could just play singleplayer Angband and put alarm clock nearby and try to make 1 turn per second. It's @#$%, dude.

Someone trying to delete signatures by vandalising petition; but it's pointless as there is versions history and possibility to protect cells. So I've roll-backed petition document to pre-vandalised version and protected signatures which were made already.

Thanks to everyone for supporting this petition! We continue gathering signatures!

petition in google sheet… and anonymous… when you don't really know if single person didn't complete all rows… :lol: And it should be consider, seriously?

Sorry in your topic before soloist was created i don't see single post when you say you don't want events. More you kinda want them here…
1) you could create only 1 such character (in this mode)
2) character is unwordly
3) you can't trade/party with NE and EL characters

Everything else is the same as in current TomeNET gameplay with unwordly char. Thre is _no_ cancelation of level reqs. for items (it would just destroy game balance).
Events will be nerfed, and you find next thing you don't like, and we will go into some weird spiral…

We are not too big community, everyone knows everyone and no one would cheat there. It would be unreal for people to sign petition if there would be any kind of registration (cause we all a bit lazy :) ), so I've choose this, easy and quite reliable (for this task) variant.

Actually 'Soloist' mode wasn't exactly what I wanted at first - I didn't want restrictions to trade/party. But it seems for devs current 'soloist' mode was the easiest variant to implement and I'm not complaining about party/trade, because it still very good anti-cheezing gameplay in 'Soloist' and I'm very enjoy it.

There are loads of stuff I would like to have in TomeNET _in future_, I post them to 'Ideas' forum. So it's quite low probability that there would be yet another critical issue like this. Most of critical issues which I pointed in the past were supported by devs (and I'm very grateful for their work); this one is quite special case - it seems devs are not sure about it and my objective is to convice them that it's important.

No need for petition. Just /rfe that Soloist char shouldn't be able to play events like DK.

It's a bit more complicated than you could see at first glance; it's was on forum for a while and /rfed; and before that this problem was discussed among devs and majority of dev team had an opinion that it's not a real issue.

It seems like the simplest solution is to not play events if you don't agree with the reward system, or redeem your deed for a luck bonus instead and then continue on your adventure.

If you insist that walls must be built to remove temptation, I would argue that nerfing the rewards is not the solution to your problem. Perhaps there could be a 'Purist' mode, which functions exactly like Soloist, except that either a) all events with rewards are forbidden (Arena challenge should still works) or b) deeds can only be redeemed for a blessing.
