Macros

Post by FailWStyle »

Everyone knows you have to use macros to succeed in TomeNET, but there's also a wide variety of what macros people assign to what keys. In this thread I'd like to see the general conventions people use for their macros.

For me, it goes something like this;

f - Ranged kill button, whether it's Manathrust, Fireflash, A Ranged innate power for a Mimicry form, or just f*t, this button is my primary ranged attack

F1-F4 is the General Bar, the macros I put here are universal across all characters.
F1 - Cure Critical Wounds
F2 - Healing Potion (Or something else for the lower levels, perhaps resistance potions)
F3 - Scroll of Teleport/Phase Door/Blink (The 'OH #@!$' Button)
F4 - Speed Potion/Sprint for lower levels

F5-F12 is the Class-specific bar
As a mimic I use it for various forms
As a caster I use it for various spells
As a rogue I use it for traps
As a combat class I use it for Combat Abilities
And as an Archer I use it for Ranged abilities

I find this to be a great general setup, but if anyone has anything different, feel free to say.

F1-F4 potions, other support-ish stuff(eg ctrl+F3 haste, F3 speed pot)
F5-F8 offensive stuff(F5 is almost always f*t, the rest is combat spells/poly macros/sometimes fighting techniques)
F9-F12 utility stuff(F9 detect traps, shift+F9 disarm, F10 stone to mud/dig, F11 light, F12 phase, shift F10 walls etc)
~ teleport
0/- sometimes fighting techniques
CTRL+dir (on my mage) walls+tunnel in dir and it's opposite
CTRL+E eat
CTRL+R recall(to bree)

I know this is old, but I'll post my setup:

F1 - Bow / Bolt Spell
F2 - Phase Door
F3 - Detect Monsters

F4 - Speed Potion
F5 - Healing potion
F6 - Teleport

F8 - F12 Utility (rods, clairvoyance, wraithform, etc.)
ctrl + s,d,f,v - offensive magic / fighting techniques
tab - res pots
` - stone prison
ctrl + direction - directional stone to mud or bow or ball spell

I like my setup because during a battle, my right hand just hovers around F5, so that I can heal quickly or teleport, if needed, while my left hand is ready for offensive measures (phase door can be offensive).

Yes, alt-dir and ctrl-dir are probably the best macros to have! I have alt-dir bound to L-dir to quickly look around. ctrl-dir is always directed FF/tox/shoot

But I guess I'll post my set up as well. I actually used to primarily use the function keys, but they're just so lacking nowadays.

I now have F4-F12 for utility (herbal tea, id spell, detections (rods/scrolls/spells), unused if not caster).

My left hand is primarily hovering over the left half of the keyboard. Index finger on [F3] (FF on mage), middle finger on [F1] (usually f*t/manathrust), ring finger on [`] (teleport!). [F2] is holy fire for those pesky blades and what not. I like this setup because I can quickly reach the ctrl and shift keys with my pinky to run around and such.

are primarily F1 for shooting. [Tab] for mostly Disruption Shield

Q is Speed
W is Res
numpad 0 and + are Healings/mana (respectively q0 and q1)
` is teleport
f is glyph
F5 id
F6 disarm (F5-F6-walking spam is nice until I get >1rad disarm/id =p)
F7 dig
F8 reveal ways
F9 MM/vision
F10 detect hidden
F11 sat hunger
F12 sense monsters
) is r1 (usually ID scrolls)
( is :/untag u\r:/dis a\r to kill loot in bag (do NOT try this without testing it thoroughly first)
ctrl-d is stop wraith or wear non wraith armour
ctr-s is wraith or wear wraith armour

I tend to have divination on most of my characters, so most of my F keys are working for them too. Otherwise, I tend to carry a lot of scrolls/rods to compensate.

My Turn... Can I have a turn.... Let's see if my macro setup will help anyone...
Can be modified for any toon but i like Istar so lets aim for Istar ...

---- Basics
Cure Potions - ` (not tilde ~)
Mana Potions - None, I press q 2 (changed many times and gave up)
Phase Door = Numpad +
Teleportation = Numpad -
Get = Numpad 0

---- During Combat so I can run around with numpad.
F1 = DPS1
F2 = DPS2
F3 to F6 = Shields or Speed or Enhancements basically
F7 to F12 = Whatever left over so like ... Wraithform... Prob Travel ... etc etc

---- Out of Combat things
CTRL + Numpad 0 - Usually used for /dis a but that's redundant after Identify does floor items, or even inscription macros etc.
CTRL + Numpad 1 - Identify (and show ground item) "\e)m@11\r@Identify\r_"
CTRL + Numpad 2 - Food
CTRL + Numpad 3 - Tunnel
CTRL + Numpad 4 - Disarm
CTRL + Numpad 6 - Reveal Ways
CTRL + Numpad 7 - Sense Hidden + Detect Monsters
CTRL + Numpad 8 - Light
CTRL + Numpad 9 - Mapping

---- Recalling
CTRL + F1 = Instant Recall "\e):/rec\r"
CTRL + F2 = Prompt Recall "\e):/rec"
CTRL + F3 to F4 = Recall House Locations etc
CTRL + F5 to F9 = Recall Towns Bree to w/e
CTRL + F10 to F12 = Recall current dive locations

Well that's my 2 cents worth.
