I think HOLD is just spell-version of paralyze (as opposed to a melee attack which might paralyze)

I don't know much about the game but I'll answer what I can 1) No idea. I'm doubtful that the chance of mobs being OOD increases as you spend time on the level; more likely, the algorithm will just say "it's time to spawn a mob" and then pick whatever it can, which includes the possibility...

Are there any convenient lists of the game-accessible admin commands (that is, for server admins/DM characters)? Even if it's just a source/code file that defines them. Vaults aren't - they're completely open, trapped areas with 0 walls. Dangerous things have free reign to seek you immediately.

I think the option in TomeNET Settings (=), Game-play Options 1 (4) is what you're looking for. The third entry is "pick things up by default."
This should let you auto-pickup items without having to have a similar thing inscribed in your inventory.
