p.s.
IMHO it's better not to create new game, but to help in development of existing ones, such as TomeNET (yay!) :D At the same time, to start with helping to TomeNET developers, it could be useful to understand how such games work in general, so creating your own tiny game could be good training before starting to work in serious project :)
