I've just tried IDDC and I think it would be awesome to make IDDC more interesting to play and more dangerous from the beginning. Right now its quite boring to explore first level of IDDC at the beginning. But you have to do it. If you don't - you loosing exp (monsters doesn't respawn, you have to get everything cleared to be successful). I think IDDC become interesting ~at 500 depth (after fire, paralize & etc appears), but before it - its not so fun.

I've experienced a lot of fun during adventures when I've read Deep Descent scroll accidentally ( https://youtu.be/_4YfU2s0jik?t=51m51s ) in PWMAngband. I think it could be perfect idea for extra hard mode in TomeNet.

Idea:
Add mode with more straightforward, hardcore, fast gameplay.

Rules are the same as @ IDDC, but...

1) after you created your character, you can't buy stuff from Bree shops. May be even to make your character appear directly in a dungeon..

Why? It would make your dive to the dungeon right after you created character and prevent from cheesing shops for [sales]. TomeNet is realtime, very high-dynamic game. I wanna just create char and go into the action, not to wait for items near shops :) But if I wouldn't do this "cheesing" - I would loose a lot in compare to players who did it (yep, its about competition also - its online game).

2) when you use strairs in dungeon you are going to appear at 3x deepth (or even maybe pseudo-random depth, dependend at char level?), then its in ordinary dungeons. Its like using deep descent every time when you go stairs. Also you get exp bonus for it. May be generate "Deep Descent" stairs not always but only sometimes.. Please discuss :)

Why? So you meet more weird and hardcore situation very fast. No need to grind 50-250 deepths with your IDDC character :)

3) level area size has more random layout and could be quite small (not so huge as IDDC).

Why? When I played IDDC I was tired to clear huuuge levels. Its ok for some levels to be big ones. But I enjoy small levels also, its fun to have a lot of different places.

4) make layout of dungeons random. Forest, mountains, caves.. even wilderness.

Why? it also quite boring to go through the same layout again and again. lets it would be route from othe piece of land to another. If it wilderness - there could be entrances to next zone appeared at the border of map (restricked by forest or mountains for example).

Please discuss.

Maybe simply have DDC chars receive a deep desscent scroll on creation? Some builds are incredibly weak until they level once.

Interesting idea.. But if there would be such scrolls then they have to give you certain amount for exp for using them. Or it would be counterproductive to use them - you just loose exp in compare to players who cleared this levels.
