Re: Why do you love TomeNET?
so there are no other online hardcore games?? And if there are, so total noob will die in them only because he get lag or disconnect? Or is it that you can't die in tomenet if you play perfectly, so luck have no meaning, or in other games even if you play perfectly you can still die?
i just don't like such brave claims, with broken logic.
It's the only game for each I compile server for Windows Machines (♥)

If you do not understand logic, it doesn't mean that there is none one I told what I feel about TomeNET, if you feel different - don't claim others with something broken
There are not much online RPGs with permadeath. The most popular ones and close by spirit - Diablo 2&3 @ HC. Its not bravery, just strict fact, that I died in Diablos because of disconnects in 95% cases. Its how it is. In TomeNET I died because of my mistakes in 95% cases. I hope it fix your logic, mate
Also if you wanna criticize something, please create other topic, this one for love, not war

I love TomeNET cause steep learning curve. No, not like this. steep learning curve. No, wrong again. Steep learning curve:
You feel your progress there. You make mistakes (die ) and learn. Step by step (from one grave to another). Its very special unlike to other MMORPGs.

Re: Why do you love TomeNET?
To me, the replayability factor that sets TomeNET apart from a lot of games, is the procedural generation of the dungeons. It seems games have not caught up with this feature yet but you can expect they might somewhat.
Basically you never get the same dungeon layout twice.
That to me is one factor that can bore you in the long term. Sure it doesn't have the multiplayer aspects of WoW but its open to it and as for graphics, there is something to be said here about maximizing game value for hardware money i.e. the cheaper the setup you need to run a game the more you can do with it with depth and complexity, i.e. moving forward and speaking generally here you won't get more value out of a game that uses 70% of its CPU power for graphics and 30% for everything else, than doing it the other way round. Things like mob AI do add to complexity and replayability too. WoW for example becomes an exercise in teamwork more than anything else, which, can be argued, adds some worth-while RL value to gaming, but otherwise there is little that changes from raid to raid / heroic dungs as far layout and mobs go.
The immersion you get in games like WoW is unparalleled mostly because of the graphics of its world and not so much the raids etc, but sometimes keeping things simple and leaving more to the imagination has merit too, i.e. compare watching a movie to reading a book.
Having said all that and keeping best for last, its goes without saying, TomeNET is not an easy game. Lol (the learning curve diagram tangar posted)
Overall its a great game. Kudos c.blue!
