Hm.. this is quite harsh idea, but I think it could be interesting to discuss and maybe find something deeper in it.
What if we would have some cooldown at potions? So you wouldn't be able to drink healing pots one after another one? Ok... lets you could drink healing potions 1 after another 1, but with diminishing returns? So first potion would heal 300 hp, second 200, third 150 & etc. till you restore some turns...
It doesn't mean that I suggest to apply it, TomeNET is very cruel (and well balanced) game already. But lets think - could we apply such idea's to something else? To activated magic items? To spells? To other item types?
It could be not only making game harder, but vice versa. For example, there could be new type of *resistance <element>* potions... For example, potion of *fire resistance*. When you drink it for the 1st time, it gives fire immunity. If you drink it again - its just works as common fire resistance potion. After n*10 turns you could get immunity again..
Lets brainstorm, maybe we would be able to find something from this thought

CD and diminishing returns... There are loads of RPGs with such mechanics, ToME4 wasn't first there.
TomeNET could take everything best from RPG/roguelikes genre, its totally right approach. But not all ideas is suitable from TomeNET, its very hard to add something and do not ruin game balance. We need to adapt, polish and balance them.
