This idea would help recognize different type of monsters very easely. Right now its only possible to define glyph color. If there would be also possibility to define also background color for every glyph - it would give huge possibilities for defining different monsters... + flickering %)
For example, we could define different background for different monsters by 'level of danger' colors:
So if there would be possibility to modify 'font-custom-_.prf' files and add there different background for different symbols - it would be just awesome!

Also its could make lighting more interesting... and it could show 'aura's at monster or player
