[suggestion] "The Halls of Mandos" - pure diving mode

Right now there was a lot of discussions at forum considering current IDDC mode and ideas of new IDDC-like modes. Its very heavy topic because some people like old style of playing and some people wanna see some changes there...

But also there is other interesting option to play - "The Halls of Mandos". Its infinite dungeon without towns; very oldschool and interesting to play. But it has some problems imho:

1) there is no ladder (highscore table) for Mandos. Its important to have competition. You could get to "Noteworthy Occurances", but they do not save and after ~3 months your feat would be forgotten :(
2) Maybe move "The Halls of Mandos" closer to Bree (now its 19 25)? Its very annoying to go there with every new character.. And do it again and again when you die (and you would die often...).
3) Also maybe port there some IDDC anti-cheezing rules?

Also I want to explain, why I want to play this mode. Every player need to change playstyle sometimes. After you play for a while with "common" character with all this houses, shops and stuff - its very fun to have possibility to rest from equipment managment, shopping and travelling around. Just start new character and dive - its what you want after you died with your previous 40+ char at "common" mode. I don't wanna look for equipment from other players shops again (for some time), I wanna rest from it. Its what I want to do right now. But IDDC make no sense to do it without preparations, cheezing shops, stealing with alts... its even more romp then "common" mode. It would be great to have such "pure-diving" mode. :)

i nearly sure that is impossible to move dungeon to another location. Names of scrolls/potion/amulet/ring and location of town/dungeon are random and determined at the time of first run of server, and if I remember correctly my talk with one of admins it was not possible to change names of items or location, but it was few years ago.

I probably not good MMO player if i don't care about rankings, and only want to go further than my previous chars…

It is possible to make iron dungeon in another spot… Still no ranking

This would require a full rethinking on how supplies are generated. Currently, you would not go anywhere, as you would have no way of getting the needed potions/scrolls/books to survive more than a few floors, unless you scum forever every level multiple times. In Angband, you can get stacks of cure wounds potions, phase door scrolls... and spellcasters drop mage/priest books. You can see multiple wins by players doing pure ironman there, so in theory it *should* be possible in TomeNET too.

its totally ok to leave item generation as it is. it has to be hard mode, if it would be more harder then IDDC - its not really problem, but a fun challenge. wanna make your chances to survive higher? make a party, group or players... you have to tank, to heal, to scout to be successful in such extra hard mode :)

also AFAIK there is no way to "scum forever every level multiple times" cause "The Halls of Mandos" is force_down dungeon.

there is no any timelimit in Halls, so i can just clear whole lvl, wait for monster to respawn on lvl, clear then again, and again, and again, and again, and when i see i don't get very much xp from lvl i go to next and repeat process. And i milk the lvl as much as I can :D

Good point. Then turning off monster respawn at lvl could fix this cheeze.

But.. I noticed that every char could enter HoM... Even my 10lvl PvP char. It makes easy to cheat there - bring any items inside, even very powerful ones.. It would be nice to have possibility to enter HoM with only newly created character, like IDDC... There are a lot of stuff could be done to make it unique and very interesting place... I'll write concept of HoM as I see them a bit later.
