[suggestion] Search of artifacts...

One of the most hard (boring) things - that you need to destroy a lot of stuff on the ground to find an artifacts. Maiars has Mana Storm, mages and druid has acid balls.. But non-magical character classes has to destroy items on the ground 1 by 1. I often have to leave piles of loot untouched cause its so boring to destroy it manually. Its really annoying :(

Possible solutions:
1) make artifacts glow (like stormbringer) so it would be easier to find them. Also make them always be on top of the pile on the floor (so it would be possible to see the glow)

2) add new /dis-type command which would destroy several items in some radius at once

3) add new fighting/shooting technique which could could AoE destroy nearby items

How about a new rod that does illumination but also burns up all low level items in the same radius?

Also good idea. But my AM-warr wouldn't be able to use it :)

You as AM user plan to use magical artifacts how silly of you. You so strongly disbelieve magic that artifact and magic items should crumble near you. :twisted:
Not AM user can use any rod/wand/staff that deal area damage to clean some stuff, use them on they own tiles to clear items around them…
Istars don't have mana storm(this in some way can cast mimics/monsters/maiars/runies), they have holy fire to destroy cursed items.

Antimagic players could use a scroll version of the Holy Illumination, or whatever it is called. I think Globe of Light turns into holy light actually, at high level. Not sure if it destroys cursed items. May be able to just create a new scroll and rod type for the holy light version. Perhaps give them a tweak to destroy "average" stuff or non-"excellent/special" stuff.

I heard that antimagic players interpret some "magic" down to the miracles of science and logic. ;)

Antimagic user should use steam powered equipment :D
Globe of light(istar) or Holy light (priest), create light, than start hurting monster susceptible to light, then rest. It didn't destroy items on any stage.

This problem still actual. Its really _boring_ to destroy loads of items on the floor one by one with /dis macro... So its very common idea between players that _certain_ classes are _great_ for treasure hunting cause they could destroy piles of loot with one spell; at the same time most of non-magical classes has to destroy items one by one.

It would be great to have the same possibilities in treasure hunting for all classes.

every char can wear auto-id hats or gloves (dunno about bats)
Then you only go from one item to another and pick this, which are interesting…
fiery aura can destroy items around you when you fight monsters, so maybe add aura based ability to destroy items within certain radius?

Auto-ID doesn't help - still you have to go from one to another item, from pile to pile and destroy items manually one by one. Its hell when you clear pits or even kill high lvl monsters.

I suppose the most fair and simple way - to add certain /dis command which works not only at tile under your feet, but also one row of tiles about you.

New idea!

Add game option: to destroy all items (except artifacts) which drop from corpses at the moment when you kill monster. So when you make killing blow - all items would be generated by the game and then destroyed, so you do not need to destroy endless piles of loot manually in search of artifacts!

Image It would bring joy of playing TomeNET at the next level! Please! Image

This idea could be improved even more if there would be possiblitity to filter items (this could be separate menu, like 'macro wizard'; it could be called 'smart loot') which to do not destroy, EX: do not destroy chests, $, stat potions, certain parts of armour and weapon types & etc ;) But it isn't crucial, even 'destroy_all' would be great option to have :)
