Druids get "sprint" technique.
Players inside inns cannot be teleported by other players anymore. (Being afk also prevents this.)
Great Wyrms of Power occur at most 10 levels out-of-depth.
Uniques occur at most 20 levels out-of-depth.
Some newbie-hints added.
Some bugs fixed:
-Morgoth's loot should have his name inscribed on it.
-Long party messages should retain the correct colour.
-Discharged items should redraw # of charges.
-Identifiying an item should correctly redraw all other items of that type in inventory.

Edit:
Added protection from teleport/polymorph/nexus effects to Martyrdom spell, changed the way final HP after Martyrdom are calculated and updated Martyrdom description in the guide accordingly.

Ironman dungeon changes in the wilderness:
(22,32) wilderness 29-59 (instead of 20-59),
(30,35) wilderness 39-74 (instead of 25-74),
new IM dungeon: (40,41) wilderness 1-99

New changes that will probably go live after current network downtime:

/untag command changed:
/untag * -- removes ALL inscriptions in inventory.
/untag p -- removes ALL pseudo-ID tags in both inventory and equipment.
/untag u -- NEW: removes all unique-loot tags in inventory.

Experimental fun stuff: (EDIT: NOW ALSO WORKS FOR TRUE ARTS AND RANDARTS COMBINED)
Wearing artifacts of similar name will give a +LUCK bonus, depending on the amount of arts ;).
Example: "Adamantite Helm 'Boron'" and "The Wirefleece of Boron".

More changes:
Damage reduction cap for AC has been lowered to 200 instead of 250.
+LIFE mod on randarts will only affect winners, not fallen winners.
Areana loot should time out faster so it won't get littered.
Spectral Tyrannosaur deals somewhat more melee damage (for druid form).
Various misc bug fixes and text updates, also make sure to keep your local guide copy up to date, or use the online version on http://www.tomenet.eu.

Official 'Mumble' server has been set up to allow voice chat!
IP is same as the TomeNET server: tomenet.servegame.com (or 85.118.45.235), port is 23348
Get Mumble from http://mumble.sourceforge.net

Misc stuff:
-Casting Polymorph or Word-of-Recall on players who are AFK is no longer possible.
-If a monster attacks with RBE_SHATTER effect, it will increase a player's STRength attribute if he mimics this form.

Edit: /dis a command now ignores all inscribed items if the inscription isn't exactly one of the non-great pseudo-ID tags (up to 'good').

New feature: Dungeon towns.
The ironman dungeon at 40,41 now has those, in random intervals. At the beginning somewhat more common, deeper down somewhat rarer.. >:)
Likewise on the RPG server, the ironman tower at 40,22.

A temporary note:
The CVS code is currently in the process of approaching the next release aka 4.4.6.
However, if you want to download server code at this time, make sure to edit common/defines.h and revert the version number to 4.4.5.10 (which corresponds to 4.4.5h), since the client code update has already progressed further than the server code, which -on cvs- has hardly been touched yet. In the best case, don't download anything until you see the official posting here that says "4.4.6 released" ;).
Reducing the version _should_ however give you an operable 4.4.5h server.

Edit (22.Nov):
Most 4.4.6 code has been finished, so release will hopefully happen pretty soon. TEST client is at http://www.c-blue.de/rogue/tomenet-446-rc.7z - note that this client could become inoperable anytime due to (protocol) code changes and therefore would require you to redownload a newer version if available. It is expected however, that this client is pretty much the final 4.4.6 version.

About 4.4.6:
We have currently sort of a feature freeze ;) meaning that all major features for the 4.4.6 release are complete.
What's left is basically some testing and possibly minor polishing.
Note that the test client (see above) has been updated a few times in the process.
The guide has also been updated.

TomeNET 4.4.6 released.

A major release actually, with a lot of polishing and some nifty new features.

The complete changelog consisting of 3 sections "Fixes", "Modifications" and "New Features" can be found here:

The guide has been updated of course to document all new features. For guide updates in detail see forum thread "Guide Updates" here in the "Announcements" forum.
If you haven't done this already then also check out the "Audio packs" thread in this forum, because the files have also been updated at some point lately, while 4.4.6 was in the making.

Edit: CVS has been updated accordingly.

Client 4.4.6b was released (see threat 'Client updates'). Here a list of server-side code changes that have occurred since last client release so far:
-House paint removed when house becomes unowned.
-Music glitch fixed when recalling from one town area into the area around another town.
-Object and Treasure Detection now have double radius in general.
-Various heavy armour has been reduced in level to be findable early on (eg Full Plate in Barrow-Downs instead of Paths of the Dead..).
-Weapons and armour examined in stores now should correctly display if it would encumber you or remove encumberment.
-A glitch in the /note command has been fixed.
-Command /notec added. Works like /note but accepts character name instead of account name of receipient.
-Item stack handling in houses improved: Can now take out one item from a pile and put it back without having to take out the whole pile to make it stack again.
-Pressing '_' on a grid with items will print the name of the topmost item you're currently standing on. If there aren't any items, it'll try to drink from a fountain as usual.
-Some armour pieces had their to-hit mali adjusted/reduced.
-Disarming traps gives much more experience now, especially on deeper levels.
-When filling oil from a lantern into the lantern you're wielding, empty lanterns will be stacked correctly.
-Refilling from a stack of lanterns will no longer drain ALL of them.
-Draconian stealth increased (yeah) to -10; Dunedain get same stealth as humans.
-Items can no longer drop 'under' the target dummy in town, making it possible to retrieve non-magical ammo.
-Characters can no longer run without the grid being lit, ie in the dark.
-Some consumable prices have been lowered: Cure/neutralize/slow poison.
-Quaffing enlightenment potion now also IDs your backpack.
-Fruit bats are now able to bash items, albeit only for 1 or 2 grids, in order to be more able to sort l00t piles.
-Bolt/arrow traps now display the damage for each hit.
-Projections of a player (noxious cloud etc.) no longer turn hostile on other players if he dies or logs out.
-Items dropped inside inns now last indefinitely. They will go poof though in case the town level resets (when noone is on it for a while).
-Inscription '@Ot...' was added to allow restricting auto-retaliation to when the player is actually in a town.
-New mechanisms have been added to allow things like the newly added 'Go' board game in the Casino in Minas Anor.
-Weight limit increase from Combat skill regarding rogueish skills ("flexibility & awareness") has been changed from +5.0 to +6.0. This allows to wear Dragon Scale Mail and Morgoth's crown at the same time without having to leave another equipment slot empty.
-Weight limit increase from Martial Arts skill changed from +20.0 to +21.0. This allows to wear Dragon Scale Mail and Morgoth's crown at the same time without having to leave another equipment slot empty.
-Player stores minimum price reduced from item value x 4 (black market like) to item value x 2.
