Experimental Graphical Font and Dedicated Map Window

Hi all, Lightman has been working on some neat stuff and I'm here just making a post and link about it.

Two major features in here:
- graphical font (think wingdings but tomenet-centric)
- active map window option that persists/updates on store pages and such to use the special font on

You can download the experimental windows client at http://www.tomenet.eu/downloads/tomenet-tiles.zip

Inside the zip file there is a new tomenet-tiles.exe that will use tomenet-tiles.ini (so it won't eat up your working files). Also in there are graphical fonts (G*.FON). Term-6 is set to load the graphics screen.

If you want to contribute and/or make better graphics, you can ask Lightman for more details (http://hukka.ncn.fi/?fony was used to create the fonts).

I'll give out a few of Sav's artifact scrolls to the creator of the best font. (DON'T TELL HIM! HE DOESN'T READ FORUMS EITHER!)

In any case, please let us know how it goes with this client.

Instructions

Hi,

:D

The instructions are to open the zip file and copy tomenet-tiles.exe and tomenet-tiles.ini into your tomenet folder next to tomenet.exe and also copy the fonts into the fonts folder. Then mess around with running tomenet-tiles.exe instead of tomenet.exe.

Some of the windows may start behind other windows. The dedicated map window is called term 6. You can select an ascii or graphics font for this using the =f menu.

Give it a try!

Here is an example of a graphic tile set that my 9 year old daughter created for you :)

This is another useful configuration. Note that the mini-map window on term 6 is being used to keep an eye on things while I try and work out how to defeat a power wrym.

The mini-map has been put into the game now :D Warm feeling in my heart.

You will have to make the mini map visible from the =f menu and restart the client. 5X8.FON is a good font, if you have no interest in graphics. You can use the mini map with the "big map" mode, you just have to manually resize the term-6 window to fit it on.

Enjoy :)

This window 6 isn't really useful atm if you are trying to have there a new font. Its has blank black @ the left side what makes it uplayable.

What do we need there is to make this window as a separate layer in "Main window" or just cut window with attributes:

I continued a bit further, guys.

with this autohotkey script:
WinSet, Region, 275-34 1660-34 1660-988 275-988, Term-6 ;
I've managed to cut unused part of window at terminal-6 and put it on top of Main Window (this script included into my addon - http://www.tomenet.eu/phpBB3/viewtopic. ... 2571#p2571 )

So now you could see graphical font from Term-6 and character properties from Main Window; fonts are separated and we could draw real pictures at fonts and do not get font mess... I draw trees, bushes, walls; owners of shops 2,3,7 and my bat - just to show you how it could look

Problem: if we open inventory or go inside of a shop, we could see only part of it

The only way to see it - to activate rear window (by clicking on it) and after you done - reactivate window-6 (another mouse click), but its quite annoying to do it every time.

Suggestions?

p.s.
sorry for a grumpy font - I've just resized my decorative font from 16x24 to 21x31.. Need to polish it.

It doesn't work. I wanna use my main screen in 'traditional' way and term-6 with 'big map' option. But term-6 doesn't go 'big map' even when I manually resize it. It looks like term-6 using the same options as main window (
